It’s best to use a tripod and cable release so the frames are in perfect alignment, but if you don’t have one you can get away with hand-holding – keep the camera as steady as possible and use a fast drive mode to shoot frames quickly. Here the contrast between sky and land is too great to be captured in a single frame, so we take a series of bracketed exposures. HDR photography begins in-camera by taking a set of exposures to record optimum detail in the brightest and darkest parts of a scene.
